Richard B. Cheney, an accomplished businessman and public servant is the vice president. Cheney is a prominent figure within Washington politics, has served under four presidents of the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush picked Cheney in July 2000 as his vice-presidential running mate being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney is a former Chief of Staff of the President. He also was a member of Congress, and he was Secretary of Defense. He's a man of integrity whom is admired by Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney believes that his job as a member of his position in the Bush administration is to serve as an open and discrete adviser. In accepting the Republican vice-presidential nomination Cheney stated that he looks forward to serving with one who can work for the accomplishment of goals through reaching across the partisan aisle and working alongside political adversaries with good will and a common goals. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941, the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. At the age of 13, Richard Bruce and his family moved in Casper (in the state of Wyoming) in Wyoming, where his father served as director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's soil conservation district.
